With a population of more than 56,000, this community has all the features one might expect from a modern city of its size. These include conveniences such as parks and shopping centers featuring major national retail chains. It’s also home to the Memphis Hustle, the minor-league affiliate of the NBA’s Memphis Grizzlies. The BankPlus Amphitheater is a venue that regularly hosts outdoor concerts and other entertainment and is expected to be expanded to 9,600 seats by 2023.

Horn Lake is nestled to the west of Southaven, about 15 miles from downtown Memphis. It’s connected to the metropolitan area by U.S. Route 51, which makes up most of the community’s eastern border. The population at last count was more than 26,000 people. Horn Lake features numerous parks and historic sites, including a ranch once owned by Elvis Presley. Its proximity to Southaven means living here also gives you easy access to all the shopping, dining and entertainment options in that city, as well.
Hernando, Mississippi
Further south along I-55 is the city of Hernando. The county seat of DeSoto County, it has a population of more than 17,000. The relatively small size of this suburb means you can enjoy a small-town atmosphere that still provides you with conveniences such as shopping and public parks. Because it is a short distance from I-55, you can expect to spend less than 45 minutes driving to or from Memphis if you choose to live here.
